Epilogue

the symbolic object in the epilogue is invisibility 

 "I'm invisible, not blind" pg 576 

 the symbol represents how through the whole novel TIM has been trying to seek acceptance and power from everyone powerful but he has finally accepted he is invisible and has seen the truth with his eyes and even though no one can see him he is fully aware of everything so he is not "blind" anymore.

Synthesis post 2

the overall meaning of the motif (symbolic objects) is still in the same course as the first couple of chapters, TIM is seen struggling with himself and through the objects he able to overcome himself and finally start seeing the truth. the symbolic objects are still implemented in getting readers an "ah ha moment" and realizing the path TIM is going through and walking esch step with him regardless that we know the outcome. When TIM finally realizes himself and starts acknowledging he is invisible and will stay an invisible and see the truth with fresh eyes the readers finally understand he has awoken and with all the hardships he's faced all the items in the briefcase for example being burned and forgotten to escape that white power that a hold of him are out of way and harm he is free and can see now.

Chapter one; motif

the symbolic object being seen during the boxing fight is the blindfold.  the quotation would be...  "All ten of us climbed under the ropes and allowed ourselves to be blindfolded with broad bands of white cloth." pg (21) the cloth is white and being wrapped around his eyes further highlights how the world sees him as invisible as well as how he views the world invisible or "blind" through the white cloth or in a sense veil. he has adopted the "white" blindness the rest of the world sees
